Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.” Yes, he is right because happiness is not the purpose but it is the result. Most of the time we think that flowers, trees, nature or children, elders need us but in reality, we need them more than they need us. Because without compassion and love life is darkness.
Love is the meaning and compassion is the light. They are not luxuries. Humanity cannot survive without them. We must love humanity with full loyalty. Because everyone, except the oppressors, deserves to be loved regardless of their religion, language, color, country, race and flag. It is not right to limit love with an ideology, land, party and even country.
The Final Testament says, “... there is to be no aggression except against the oppressors.” (Qur’an: 2:193) Yes, humanity always owes each other. Because humanity has contributed to the common heritage of the world, regardless of language, religion or color and race. The practical result of the story of Adam in the Qur'an is to recall that all humanity has a common father and that humanity is a brother.
From Thales of Miletus in Ancient Greeks Civilization to the compass inventor during the Han Dynasty, they deserve love and respect. Not only the Persian Muslim scholar Avicenna who is known as Father of Medical Science but also the British inventor of electricity William Gilbert, all of them and in between deserve love and respects as much as Ibn Khaldun, the father of sociology and Viktor Frankl, the founder of Logotherapy, deserve to be loved. The fact that one is Muslim and the other Jew does not prevent the universal love within us. People all over the world contribute to humanity. Thus, every single person deserves love and compassion without discrimination.
The most superstitious ideology in the world is racist patriotism. Satan became condemned because he didn't love Adam, the father of humanity. Satan was the first racist according to Qur’an because he said, “My origin is fire, Adam’s origin is clay.” (See: Qur’an: 7:12)
Love is a blessed trust and everybody deserves it. The more the homeland deserves to be loved, the more humanity outside the borders deserves to be loved. One should be able to see that he is indebted not only to his land and his people but to all of humanity.
The race-driven incitement that is being sought today is nothing more than the sedition that the devil blows into the ears of nations.
